At times a design solution seems to be an intuitive construct based on an emotive response to a site, a space within it, a clients energy and several other variables. Behind the intuition is of course an acute awareness and sensitivity.
Elements forming a space or within a space are imagined as volumes of color, layered in advancing or retreating relationships.
I approach design initially as an abstract 3D composition of form and color. This image is non-representational; it demonstrates a way of seeing tension and juxtaposition in a layered space. This study composition is constructed of colored light volumes and lines.
